Services are provided by a licensed Speech Therapist (ST). Our Speech Therapists specialize in creating rehabilitation and recovery plans for patients who have challenges with speech and swallowing. We do more than just help patients cope with symptoms. We assist in the recovery process and work to improve overall quality of life.
Articulation and Resonance Therapy
When patients experience conditions such as Parkinson’s disease or a stroke, it can have an impact on their speech. With Articulation Therapy, speech therapists help patients overcome speech challenges by focusing on the way the tongue and mouth are used to produce different sounds. The therapists also work to improve the overall sound quality (resonance) of the voice. Our goal is to provide patients with the exercises and training needed to progressively regain confidence in speaking ability.
Neuromuscular Electronic Stimulation (NMES)
More than 15 million Americans cope with moderate to severe dysphagia (difficulty swallowing). Nurses in Touch is certified in the use of neuromuscular electronic stimulation (NMES) therapy. This state of the art technology helps to retrain muscles and helps patients take control of their swallowing.
